Richards began his banking career in 1975 and quickly rose through the ranks to become Branch Manager at Crocker Bank in Marysville, California. After moving to Montana in 1984, Richards expanded his horizons by serving as Vice President Commercial Loan Officer for First Bank. By 1989, he was named Organizer and President of Big Sky Western Bank in Montana, and helped Mountain West Banker and Heritage Bank establish new banks throughout Montana.

2009 saw the beginning of Richards’s career as an expert witness and consultant. Since then, he has offered his expertise to over 60 cases in 22 different states. He boasts intensive knowledge of and experience in writing expert witness reports, and has been retained in cases involving the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the United States of America.
